A Westcountry businessman wants to extend the M5 motorway to Plymouth in a very bid to place the city on a par with other Links of London elements with the area and attract major enterprises to relocate.



Nigel Rees, regional manager of Calbarrie, a fire threat evaluation and equipment servicing business, claims development in the city is being stunted through the lack of infrastructure and has launched a petition.



He aims to collect a hundred,000 signatures and force a House of Commons debate on the matter.



Now he is calling for support.



Mr Rees stated: "If a brand new business enterprise appears to relocate towards the South West they're going to not contemplate Plymouth as the motorway ends at Exeter.



"Exeter includes a very good train and airport link to London but Plymouth does not, so if we extend the M5 we are going to make certain business enterprise growth and consequently jobs during the city.



"There are much more people out of perform in Plymouth than Exeter and this is greatly influenced through the travel infrastructure.
